Mach props?

I have a 29' 95 w/ twin 454 Mags running 14.5 x 27" Mach Driver props. Dont think it came like that. I have heard I basically have two spare anchors . Boat's best w/ props spinning out is 73 mph. Would I get more out of Hydros or Bravos?

Re: Mach props?

Most likely it did come with the Machs, they were common back then. Fountain used Hydros for a long time also. Now with the very close relationship with Merc, the boats ship with the Merc Bravos. Only way to find what works best is to beg, borrow, or steal some and try them out. My 35 single step works well with both the Hydros and the Lab Bravos.

My 1995 35 came with machs. Drives spinning in.

Re: Mach props?

The hydros seem to work the best with standard Bravo depth found on hulls prior to the higher x-dim. Although, some have found that the labbed Bravos work equally as well, with better mid-range and less cavitation out of the hole. The Fountains I have owned both came with hydros, although I am going to try the labbed Bravos on my current set-up.

Re: Mach props?

My 95 Non step 32 had Machs from the factory. Lost a blade on high speed run and found out it was common with them.

At the time did a lot of research and testing between hyros and bravos. Always had better luck with bravos.

My twin step 35 has hyros and blows out continually. Will be trying bravos again because I cant spend the coin on 5 blades.

Re: Mach props?

My 97 had mach props also. I changed to bravo's. Not as fast a prop but much better mid-range and no cavitation.

Re: Mach props?

I had hydro's on my 29 , loved them. My single step 35 hates them . Bravo's work better on the single step. Just my 2 cents. every boat is bifferent along with what the owner likes.
