I was reading the other post on speed and some people have asked me what my new boat is going to run...........I guess I will ask the panel!

It is a 1999 42 (big steps) with XR drives and 600 Innovations. The engines are fresh, running Custom Marine Headers, alluminum heads, closed cooled. They were dynoed at 635hp and 638hp.

Also, what props would you recommend, currently have four blades but beaten up pretty bad so need to get new ones anyway. Budget doesn't allow for Herrings!

I'll try this again. 90-91. Not sure of your prop set up. 32 4 blades on an 05 hull with high X is what I have from factory.

Im guessing around 85-87 mph.

I'm gonna say 85-87 aswell, but you could always ask the original owner

Thanks for the replies, I talked to the original owner and he said that he saw 91mph. Just reading some other peoples threads and there thoughts of power vs. speed. Just wanted to get an idea from the "panel of experts".

Sorry DT42......in reviewing threads I didn't see one for my set-up in asking the speed question....didn't want people to answer the same question twince...ooopppss

I think the older lightnings 96-97 with 500 hp triples does 93-94.

With that HP to weight ratio I would expect 85 MPH ish with a full load of fuel and gear.
