Fountain Demo Ride

Joe Malich from PowerBoats NW was in Long Beach this weekend (Parker's Lighthouse) demonstrating the new 2007 staggered 35 and 38 Lightnings. The 35 had 525s and the 38 has 700s with #6s and custom Herrings. Fountain's factory driver/representative (Martin) was at the helm.

I took a ride at better than 90 MPH in the 35 and well over 100 in the 38. Both are awesome boats. The 38 was barely getting up out of the water at 104.

Way too cool - Thanks Joe!

I thought that the 35 would run over 100 with 525's?? From your pics those motors arn't going to turn anymore rpm to produce an extra 10 mph. Thanks for the pics and it must have been fun going on both of those boats.

I don't know what the rev limit is on the 525 but I understand that the boat will do over 100.

We saw 93 with 5 guys on board and tanks that were just topped off..

I went down to Long Beach today and went out with Martin in the 38, WOW, what an awesome boat. That boat accelerates very hard, and rides better than anything that I have ever been in. The MerCruiser 700's seem like a very nice package, and the fit and finish on the boat is excellent. The two step hull with the staggered engines really refines the ride. I guess I know what my next boat is going to be!
Thanks Martin and Joe.

Hey Terry,

Looks like your an early bird too. I've been at work since 5:00 and am already procrastinating...

Yep, it was inside the breakwater. Fastest I've ever been on a boat. They went out of their way to make it a good experience.

I posted on the SCOPE site Saturday (to see if anybody else was interested) but it might have been too late.

You going on the Catalina run in April?
