I was in the 02' 35 lightning t/s with stock 500's at 85+mph on the speedo. It was reading a little above that, not sure what props. Might be a good race with Dkahnjob and his single step with 500s.

I should clarify one thing, my speedo is not a gps, but is the factory Lavorsi pitot type speedometer. I assume that it is accurate, but who knows.

Borrow a handheld GPS as there is a BIG difference. I would bet your WOT 85 speedo indication is very generous.

I would skip the handheld gps, you and your friends will stay much much happier looking at pitot tube speedo numbers! On a couple of my Fountains' the speedo would read 6-8 mph happy, depending on trim angle. If you ever noticed, in the Fountain brochures their advertised speeds on the 29 with a 525 dropped from "80+ mph" to "near 80" when the gps speedo became standard, if I remember correctly. I have most of the brochures and thought that it was rather "interesting" to see that.

That is interesting, I think I will just stay blissfully ignorant, and be careful of who I race!

I found my stock speedo was about 3 mph happy with 502s.
