OK all you Fountain owners......
We just sold our '88 312 Stinger and we're looking to buy a boat.
We have been told over and over how great the 42 Lightning is on the water. We're going up to Michigan next weekend to ride on our first one.
Would those of you who own this boat tell us what it is that you like about it? Disadvantages???
We boat on Lake Erie, so we're looking at buying nothing less than a 38' and nothing bigger than a 42'.
We like the 42 Lightning, 41 Apache (I know, bad word in this section LOL) and 38 Top Gun (ooops, another bad word ).
What are we looking for in the end? A boat that will not beat the heck out of us and the boat when we're in 3' to 5's and that goes between 80 to 90MPH. While we realize there are many other things to consider, the ride is what we're looking for when we're in rougher water.
Just looking for pros, cons and feedback. Thanks.

There is no substitute for hull length. If you are looking to go 80 or 90 in 3 to 5s get the 42. The 38 is a gorgeous boat but if ride comfort in rough water is your ultimate goal and you have the means - get the 42.

We have heard this from others. We've been told over and over if you're going to buy a Fountain buy the 42 over the 38. The ride is most important. The 80-90 is the bonus.

The 42 is the perfect length for rough water. My 35 does a great job to, but the 42 rough water ride is great. You will be
looking at a much older boat for the money you want to spend.
