Getting it on/off trailer was not much different than a small boat, unless it was windy or the ramp was crowded. The part that I was referring to was getting to the ramp, parking, and fuel stops (for both the truck and the boat) and dealing with traffic in congested areas (city streets, traffic lights, etc). Many of the roads we traveled on were secondary roads or going thru small towns, and turning a corner on such roads with a rig that was 58-59 feet long could be interesting. Many boat ramps didn't have parking that could accomodate a 58-59 foot rig. Getting in/out of gas stations, or more appropriately, finding one that could accomodate the 58-59 foot rig, especially in unfamiliar places, sometimes was "interesting" as well. If you stick to big lakes with good access, both by road and at the ramps, probably no hassle. One time at Smith Mountain Lake, my friend had to literally back his truck, with 38' boat behind it, about 2 miles up a single lane road, when we realized we had made a wrong turn and the "public ramp" wasn't the one we thought it was! We usually explored without the boat attached, but sometimes you make a wrong turn, or don't remember something quite right! Again, if its all interstate, 4 lane roads and ramps with loooong parking places, no problem! That is what I meant by the 35 wasn't a good "trailer boat" for us. Most of the lakes we boated at were local lakes, set up more for smaller boats.

27-29
what is your range with a 525 and only 57 gallons of gas? I think both are great boats but the 29 feels 5 feet bigger and the 140 gallon tank makes a big difference. With the bigger step the 29 runs the same speed as a 27 with the same power. In the last 5 years we have sold 40 29's and 15 27's. 5 people upgraded to the 29 within 1 year after buying a 27. Nothing else can compare to the single engin fountains.

The small tank is the only compaint I have. I guess the way the boat sits with the 525 the fuel gauge doesn't read all that great. When it says empty, still have about 1/4 tank left so I have never run it below that so really can't give you an accurate range. I can get through the weekend on a tank manily cruising at 50; with of course running the more than occaisional 80+. I agree, hard to beat the single engine Fountain it has been a great boat, but I'm looking forward to upgrading to a 35 or 38!!
