need some 27 single prop info and fumes at WOT
I have a 1.5 bravo , a supercharged 502 and a 15X 25
Machsterndriver 4 blade that has a rough (chippd up ) cutting edge. And only 75 on GPS at 5200 RPM's.
Plenty of right now out of the hole. Out of the hole like "RIGHT NOW" but it seems to have 0 bow lift. I have to trim to # 5-6 to get it up out of the water at all..Anything over # 6 trim and it gets slower. And No rooster tail .
Any prop suggestions??It's a 92 non stepped
Also I have a 1050 dominator on the b& M blower..and the cockpit gets a gas fume smell only at substained WOT. (Not cruising at 40 knots or any other time and the engine bay smelled of no fumes right after either)
.. ANyway any Ideas to get me into the 80's?? Any help would be greatly apreciated. Chad

My 2001 Fever 25 Hydro, 500efi 5250 rpms, GPS 75, so your #'s are right, you need more prop or raise the rev limiter, if you really want this boat to fly contact Jim V, here on OSO, he had a 27 fever in the triple digits.

My stepped 27 likes the trim at 3.5. I was 84 mph with my 500hp, and 90's with the blower motor. You are over trimming. If you see a rooster tail you are tearing stuff up IMO. Check that water pressure, the more you trim the more that low water pickup is not picking up water.
I had a labbed 28 and that seemed to work great for the 500hp. New drive is 1:3:6 and the 28 is great with the big motor. You need 5800 I think, and that rough edge is effecting things more than you think.

I spoke w Bill Dunsmore today. He built my engine. He like you said 58 -5900 RPMS.We have a 1.5 Bravo Drive .We both thought because of the fuel smell it may be starving for air. It does not have the scoop like you had on yours. We figured to try it without the hatch cover to decide if that is it. It is nice to have it quiet though.
Also I fugure my 25 stern driver may be too beat up or not the right prop..It doesn't seem to have bow lift.
Thanks for any input. Your 27 sure is sweat!

If you put the 1:5 drive on it sounds like the 28 would work great. I have always heard that the 27's like the bravo props and the 29's generally like the hydros.
Being a non-step might be making some sort of difference. I wouldnt know about that, but it might.
I would try the teh 1:5:0 and a 28 with a smaller diamater to get the rpms up closer to the optimum range. Get some air flowing in there, but keep in mind, just like my blower motor, when you are making boost, you are making heat, dont leave that thing hung for long, closer and closer to detonation.

I keep my drive at 3 or 3.5....level with bottom. My tabs are between 2 and 4 depending on water conditions. I dont feel any speed change with tabs up more than 2 (and dont like the wondering feeling at speed,) and below 4.5 they really begin to stuff the bow. When im attempting to get on plane i stuff the drive and put the tabs down considerably, and then begin to raise the tabs and then shortly there after the drive.....all based on attitude feel, boat weight, and engine RPMs. My max GPS (68.6) was with tabs at the 2.5 position and drive about 3 in very slight wind chop....if i remember correctly. Basically I like to keep the drive about level and use the tabs to make minor adjustments. Stock 26P Bravo 1 prop
