need help, 27 fever top end speed.
hello, my friend J.C. has a 1994 27 fever with a 500 efi and a 2'' sm shorty. the best that we've seen on top end is 66.2 mph. he went from a standard bravo to a 3" shorty but had to put an inch spacer in it. still very hard to get on plane. currently running a 24 4 blade bravo at 5000-5100 rpms. what can i expect from this strait bottom boat and what set ups are you running? this seems a little slow to me, any help would be great, thanks in advance.

Not enough power for shortie drive IMO. Usually you go 5 blade with the shortie drive.

The prop slip is around 11% which seems fine.
How many hrs on the motor?
The boat should run abround 70mph with HP500.
I get 71mph @ 5300rpm out of my -93 with a carb HP500 and 14 1/5 24 4 blade March.

the boat is new to him but previous owner says the motor was put together last year. the owner never gave specifics on the motor, just stated that it was a fresh 500 efi. just by looking at the motor it looks like it may have started life as a 502 efi 415 and some one put a 500 efi unit and a nasty cam in it. with the standard length bravo we were only seeing 45 4600 rpms. with the shorty it's around 5100 now. 70's would be nice.

A labbbed 26 Bravo might be what you need.. Talk to BBLades...They are just heavy old hulls ,,But they are nice in the chop.

Sounds like your #'s are right for a 415hp 502mpi.
Here are some basice #'s for a 27 w/ 500efi, 17.5" X-DIM 25 Hydro, should put you at 72-74mph 5300rpms
Sounds to me you need tho get rpms up!
