Default 1993 42 Lightning with 3 x 525'sc - few questions

Picked up our "new to us" boat this weekend. I have a few questions. Motors have 240 hours and appear to be original.
  1. Forward tanks I was told hold 75 gallons? Rear 30?
  2. What are the best props to run? It's got 28 pitch Mach 1's on it now.
  3. My center engine is lower on boost at 4,000 than the other two. Is that normal on a triple engine boat?
  4. What do most people do with the center engine while docking?

We love it, I have to admit the dash is a bit overwhelming with you have 26 gages!

1) The gas tanks sound right, although I didn't use my saddles tanks.

2) I ran labbed bravo 1 30's from Bblades it woke my boat up

3) I don't know chit about sc motors I ran triple 540's

4) put the center engine in neutral

5) conrgats you will enjoy it, it is a wave crusher

I would imagine the Mach's would give you a good cruise speed and fuel economy. Are you looking for top end or all around Performance? Many triple engine owners like the Hydromotive 4 blades. As for the center engine boost difference....start by looking to see if it has the same pitch prop, if the pulleys on the blower are the same dia. as the other two. Check the timing, make sure it's getting advance from the ignition module.
Let us know if you find anything. Congrats!

How about that Merc shift assist? That the bomb so far, the shifters will move with one finger.

Thanks again Lance, see you in a few weeks.

Once you get really comfortable you can use the center engine to enhance reverse if you need to spin the boat or whatever. The center engine is basically along for the ride until you really stand on it so it should be under less load which equals less boost at the same RPMs. Most triples I have seen end up with the center engine throttle about 2/3 of the outside ones until about the last 10-15 mph. Looks like a beautiful boat, good luck with it.

I would think the center engine would have more load on it??
