Default Mood Light/rope light replacement?

Anyone replaced the "rope light "on a Fountain? It runs just above the interior carpet below the seating in my 1997 38 Sport Cruiser. Seems like it must be a standard type item and can't be too difficult to replace. Mine shorted out over the weekend. Anyone have any ideas on this item and where to get?

FYI, I tried twice to order but no return phone calls from Fountain? so I went elsewhere and ordered 3/8" diameter LED rope lights from an online store called sailorsams. These lights are a little brighter with more lights per rope length and slightly thicker than the stock 5/16" factory rope but fits fine.

did you use the "flat" led rope lights? I am thinking of doing the same upgrade. Would love to see some pics!!!

I was thinking this way but it might take a 4 drivers and cost a good buck.

5 years later I have decided the white LED rope lights are a little bright for my preference. Going to LEDs made the lighting more than accent/mood lighting. Maybe that's why many new boats are using the blue LEDs to tone it down? Blue LEDs are all over the new boats. I ordered the same 3/8" rope in blue from SailorSams but won't get it all hooked up for a month or two. Too cold here! Has anyone else switched the rope lights on a Fountain to blue or any other colors?

Most decent led strip light kits can be controlled with a dimmer. If you buy an RGB kit you can have any color plus white in any intensity you want. The possibilities are endless!

Check these guys out.

Thanks for the tip. I'm liking the blue.
