Default Question for all the 47 Fountain guru's

Does anyone know if the older 47' Fountains have a shorter (as in height) cabin than say mid 2000's. The reason I ask is I looked at a 2003 47' fountain and then at a 1997 47' Fountain and the older Fountain seems to be a couple inches shorter.. I think. I was almost able to stand up straight in the 2003 (OK NO WISE CRACKS) but in the 1997 not even close. I know the hulls are different depending on year but I didn't think that would make a difference in cabin height.
Also in 2006 fountain updated the interior, (bout time) some of the 2006 models have the new style & some don't, was it an option or was it changed mid year.
If a person wanted to spend the cash to change the interior will the new style bolt in with out modifications??

2006 interior is the same as my 2000. Only difference is the mega gauges and the sink faucets. Not sure about the cabin height.

Great tread/question..

I do not think there are much difference in height between a 1997 and the others. Correct me guys if this is wrong.

The cabin did not change much at all. In 2007 onwards they are often equipped with the new style beige leather (but the design is the same!).

The cockpit was upgraded in 2006 with the new style bolster seats. The hull also changed with this fall 2005 by adding extended height to the hullsides and a new step location. The staps are longer towards the transome.

What I wonder about is when Fountain upgraded the structure of the boat...? Ther eis a difference between a 1998 47 and a 2001 47. The newer boat seems better build with less flexing in rough waters. Inputs on this please.

What engine package are you looking at??

The back to back seats are the same in the 2006. They changed the step hull on the 2005 and up. On the 2007 the cabin is a little shorter.

The 2006 47' Fountain has the new interior and the old style interior (back to back seats). They must have started the change over to the new style in 2006.
I think for price and performance the best bang for your buck would be the 3X525 efi package??

I remember you could choose which one cabin you wanted as they had not made a back to back style interior in 2006. I like the back to back beckause it is very social (unlike most Fountain cockpits). But for serious offshore, the 6 single bolsters would be best. 3x525 works great. Always a pleasure to fire the third engine when everybody at the dock are amazed that it had two. :-)

I'd stick to 500 EFI's if possible due to all the header issues with the 525's it can get very expensive fast. Hard to find a clean fresh water 47 with the right options and power.

It's not hard to find a fresh water 47 if you look in the right places

525s priced right and virtually no hours isn't hard to find if someone is serious about finding one

The 500efi package is a GREAT set up but for someone that wants the performance the 525's would be the better choice. To turn up the 500's to match the 525's or just replace headers (if needed) would be almost a wash, plus you get the XR drives. I think it is more of a mental thing, if it is a known prob. and it happens its not so shocking.
That is juat like the bravo 1 & the XR outdrives, everyone knows they won't last forever behind a big HP blower motor but people do it all the time.
Its called performance boating...

Default Cabin Headroom

1999 and newer have more headroom in cabin than prior years.
