I have a 1995 29 with twin 502's. It was tested at the factory at 88.2 and the most I ever got it up to was 87.8 on GPS. It now runs 93-94 with rebuilds to 509's and 575 HP.

I owned a 95 29 with 454MAG EFI's(385hp)... Gill offshore exhaust & it ran on the limiters in fresh water with 27 labbed Hydromotives QIV's 81 and a "click" on GPS.... for years! no faster no slower... for what its worth...

I dont know at this moment the ratio of the drive,, How i can check this? with the serial number i think? if it dont rebuilt maybe,,
Who is know that origine ratio on that boat,, if the boat have 454 stock before? it's different or optionnal?
But if is a 1.36,, your slip exemple is in a salt water or fresh water because i know is faster in salt?

About the slip. The slip has not much to do with salt or fresh. The reason why you will see a speed increase in salt, is because of the bouyancy (did I spell that right?!).
I would have suggested that you contacted Roger on the board, but he's here already. He should know a thing or two about reaching 90 mph in a 29.
Was that 87.8 with twin 415's??! Don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting your numbers. You seem to know the 29 quite well, so maybe you have some insight on this. Do you have any idea why there are such a big difference between the 29's? I've never seen a 29 with 502's run like yours or even GRH's 454. It has been more along the lines of what tbrown runs(76-78). Have you guys spent alot of time dialing in?
