Default Cabin door will not stay up

I have replaced the gas strut on my 32 fever twice. Will not stay up. Falls down Any ideas or where to buy. I have replaced with new from napa and west marine.

They are not the correct # to hold it. You have to get the strut from Fountain or order it on-line. I think it's like a 25 or 35# strut.

X2 Fountain has the correct part, not expensive and easy to get.

The other thing that I have found is if you have tried to put a strut on thats too long it wont work at all.

If you don't want to mess with the gas strut anymore go with a hatch spring. I have a 10 inch on my 27 and it works great.

They do wear out fast, I believe it's from not being used, I leave the hatch open with the cover on, that seems to make them last longer, they are not completely compressed all the time. Might be worth a try
