Need prop for 29' fever twin
Hi,
I need to buy propeller for my boat, its a 96 29 fever twin 502 MPI stock with CMI exaust, drive 1.5,
i have the stock performance report of this boat but at this time he came with 454 EFI, and he have 14.5 x 26 4B (maybe its mach prop) and he run 79 at 5000 rpm,
now what do you think is the best prop for top end with also good sruising speed with my set-up?
thanks everyone,,

For a good blend of top end and cruise speed, something like a 15.25 x 26, 15,25 x 27, 15 x 26 or 15 x 28 Maximus could be an idea. What prop's and pitch do you run now? GPS speed @ ???? rpm's?

My 29 originally had 502 MPI's before they blew and with 26" Hydromotive Q IV's it was in the 68-72 range. The 496 HO's I have in there now with the same props run it 72-75. The Q IV's are a sharp ear prop and don't plane great but run well in most conditions. I have been told by a knowledgeable source that a round ear prop ( Bravo One ) in the 26"-27" range would get me another 1-2 mph on the top end but I haven't tried it personally so I can't really say.

Also don't put too much stock in those performance reports unless you have an outgoing tide where you boat. Subtract 6-10 mph from the report and that will give you a realistic top end for static water.

Had a '92 29 with 502's, non-stepped hull. It came with 1:36 gears. The best props were the Mirage plus 27's for us... the 4 blades only increased the mid range due to our deep X dimension. I assume yours are higher, and you are stepped, so Bravo 1's or Hydomotives may work better for you, than us.
