Default What will a IMCO 2"Shortie do for me?

I have a 1999 27 Fever with a 502 with a few small upgrades.

Running a Ron Hill 25* Custom 5 blade, on a stock LWP B1.

4700rpm's WOT @ 63.3mph

What will my rpm's do? Speed?

And yes I know I need more motor HP, doing that this winter.

Thanks Bobby

im not sure with the stepped hull but my friend has a 94 27straight bottom and a 2 inch shortie helped him a bit. but he is also running alot more hp close to 800. dont know what it will do in a stock application

I am also thinking about the -2 shorties on my 42 staggered. I already have a set of five blade props that are too tall. Have you tried four blades? Bill

Sounds like you are propped wrong. My 93 non step 27 with 502 runs 67 gps. I turn a 23 mirage plus 5300. I would play with props first before spending a bunch on a shorty lower.

I was turning a 22P 4B Bravo 1 Prop @ 5300rpms. If I trim out I can turn the 5B to 4850 Rpms.

Will the shortie raise rpms? I want to run this prop, and build the engine up to run 5500 rpms.

There is no point to spinning a stock 502 to 5500 rpms, the cam is out of breath by then and you are making less hp, not more.

Prop the boat to run 5200 or so with a light load

Its not going to be stock. 509 with Brodix Heads 320cc custom cam, Stainless Marine Ex, Fast EZ-EFI and a few more things if needed.

Hopefully you will see some speed gains. I have been thinking about putting 2" shorties on my 29 but I am not sold on doing yet (cost vs performance gained). I think they run about $4500/ea and I would need 2. If I were to gain 6-8mph I would do it.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you. Keep us posted.

From what I have read the 2 inch shorties make a much better gain once you are running high 70's low 80's & up w/ stock drives!
