Default Engine Lights

I found a thread about this back in 2004 that talked about this but didn't know if there was any new solutions. The base of my engine lights have broken. Anyone know of a better solution? I don't really want to put plastic back on because the first time I run it hard I feel I will be back in the same boat I am now.

I would imagine someone has made an aluminum base of some sort...
