i bought a fountain sight unseen 3 years ago. Had an "inspection" and everything, while I was in Afghanistan. Well needless to say water was getting in the cabin and did rot the wood, well 5 grand later and replacing half of the wood in the cabin on the floor the boat is great. Not to worry you, but learned my lesson on buying boats unseen 3 years ago.

my problem was not the water coming up from the back getting trapped it was coming in from bow rail they think and was caught in the comparments in the beds. Problem with fountains is they didnt have any pipes in the cabin that led to the back if water got in there, so the water would trapped. When my boat was fixed they added pvc that runs into the bilge. So if you ever do a fix I suggest running pipe to the bilge so the water can go back.

Im not at all worried about it. I think that I am going to have the carpet replaced in the cuddy area and do some more investigating once the carpet is out. I will probably drill some holes here and there and see how the wood is when it comes up off of the drill bit. I talked to some people at our local boat repair shop and they said that if the floor in the cuddy is bad its not that bad of a job to do. They are coming to inspect it for me and let me know for sure this weekend.

it might be wise to take the mirror out of the cabin. and take apart the bow light and cleat and silicone the opening and screw holes. I also took the bow rails off and those, thats a two man job and is PITA, but youll ensure against water coming in that way.
