Default Fountain 32 re-power options

Hey guys,

As you know, the 32 is a bit tight under the hatch and Im looking at changing my old 502 gen v's and putting new motors in.

My question is will 496's or 525's fit under the hatch?

I mean with the 502's i can barely fit anything between the two motors.

I read that the 525's and 496's are a bit wider than the the 502's

All help would be great.

Thanks,

Intimid8

I certainly wouldn't repower just because of that, A inch or so is no big deal. The 525 from what I know is the 454 block with different internals. I would not down size to sbc's unless they were very stout.

My 502s are pushing twenty years of salt water use. The engines are tired and lousy.. I dont think I can rebuild them again. Im looking for newer more refined motors. Im happy with 70 to 75mph as long as it is reliable and a good value. I really am not a speed freak or gear head and don't want to be ordering parts every two months as its very expensive where I live.

go with 525's or similar fuel injected 500-600hp range. That way everything will fit just fine, will be reliable and you won't have to worry about drives. that power will get you to 82-87mph. with 500efis 4000rpm is 60. For me 800's 3000rpm is 52mph 3500 61, 4000 72mph. It is a headache i am reminded of too often. If you do it put in new bilge pumps and get rid of water tank and diverters. Boat is quiet enough at idle.
