I was told by a pretty reliable source (RF3) that 900hp will put you right at 100mph in a stepped hull 29 Fountain. I would say this is with all of the stars aligned. My set up is in the very early stages. I basically just dropped the engine in and put my outdrive on. I pulled the power and drive from my 97 Checkmate 242. I picked up 5mph on the Fountain over the Checkmate. I feel certain that there is a lot more (3-6 mph) to be had with proper setup and optimal conditions. I am running mid 90s on an engine that dynoed 879hp and 835 ftlb tq. Normally aspirated.

How did it handle at those speeds?

It was on a lake with no traffic and only a slight wind chop. It had no signs of ill handling whatsoever. Now.. I have been going mid eighties and hit some odd waves to the point that I backed out of it. With this being said.. I will choose my water carefully until I am more familiar with how it acts in those situation. Lenn

Plenty of smaller boats run over 100. Here's a good example of a deep vee 22 running 102.

I have a buddy with just over 800hp and he has seen 94mph, I would say the 900hp mark you may see the 100mph mark. 950-1000hp gives you some assurance that you will see it though lol
