The boat is new to me. I just picked it up. They are original 500HP carb motors converted to 500EFIs with Whipples, cams and Merlin heads. They are newer XR drives with 2" shorty lowers. I did not take the boat up to 104MPH, the builder did, and it is where the recall is on the GPS so it is fact not a fish story! running 32p props, which I am not 100% sure are right for the boat. The headers are 525 headers drilled to fit the 500s. I posted the pic for you to see... you can fit nice headers, but it is very tight! The water hoses on the top do rub on the hatch as you maybe can see the marks in the pic.

I had the boat out last weekend, it runs 80 at under 4k rpm.. maybe like 3800! I didnt get it much past that speed... had plenty of throttle left, I just ran out of water... will have it out tomorrow, but probably wont be doing any 100 mph runs tomorrow either... well I might I guess!

you got to put spacers( 2") under the hatch to keep it from hitting the headers etc. had to do it it to ours, tall decks don't come close to fitting with the hatch closed.

is there a spacer specific for it, or just make one? Also, No I am not running 5 blades, but I think that is going to happen. I have 4 blade 32 p on them now, and need to know, would switching to a 5 blade like a hering stop the props from "blowing out" constantly while trying to get on plane? if i roll into it, as soon as I hit 2kish.. they blow out.. I have to feather it a bit to get going. What do you think? I mean they sure look awesome on the boat too.. but not spending that kind of money cuz they look cool!

thats what everyone told me when i was thinking of getting the -2 shorties. 1998 and later 32 introduced the big step and have a rough time getting on plane without 5 blade props. but with the 5 blades they tend to chew up bravos as many will say, so we never pulled the trigger on them. many just rip a 2x4 down . starting at 0 rip it to what ever thickness you need wit the fat end toward the rear seat. then paint any color you want. usually does the trick.

nice suggestion on the shim.. thats easy enough. Yeah, Mine is a 96 so its a single step, but I think same rules apply. I have XR Drives... any better for a 5 blade?

xr's may buy you a couple more passes but thats about it, a lot will hinge on how you drive it.

NOT To side track this thread... but to the prop talk.. I had the boat out sunday... It was beautiful with the 4 blades and the shorties. Up on plane very quickly, and once on plane a absolute rocket.. Took her up to 94 mph on GPS with PLENTY more to give.. had 5 people and my fuel gauge reading full. 50mph to 94 was very very quick. I am in love with this boat and the way it performed! Absolute beast. I did clog up the impellers and get the motors hot on my way back in to the marina, but it was very brief and think everything is ok.

it read half tank, i put 20 more gallons in.. it was close to full. i believe it is 2 tanks right? Like a transfer tank? Im assuming full means 1 tank.. i beleive they are 90 gallons each... does that sound right? Im not saying 20 gallons took it to full from half... that math doesnt work.. it's just what the guage read.
