To try to answer your question here,

My 35 Fountain, which measures 35 feet in length, on my trailer which has surge brakes (adds a little), I need 39'8" bare min to get it in and close the door. I am talking from the drives to the hitch, very least I can get it down to. Do not think the Ex is any different than the Lightning, differences will show in the trailer more likely.

Boat length (LOA)= length over all
My Fountain 42 PR measures 42' exactly from the bussel to the tip. My bussel is 2'
Sitting next to me is my friends 43 Outerlimits, it measures 43'from the bussel to the tip.The OL bussel is 3'
So to all the people that have nothing else to say , start calling the OL 43 svl a 40' boat and see how all the Outerlimits cheerleaders respond!!!!!
Or how about I'll run my 42' , 40' , 38' or any other measurement you want to call it against any of your "real 38' boats" I'm tired of people getting so hung up on size. A 35 fountain is 35' plus the tongue of the trailer, which is usually no more than 4'.

It's no hidden fact that by law molded on swim platforms have to be included in loa. Not like Reggie did something to just make boats sound bigger. All the lengths changed when the law went into effect. EVERY manufacturer with a molded platform has it included in loa.
