1988 Fountain 8.8M 29ft with 330HP twin 454's. What Props Please?
I purchased a 1988 8.8M 29ft Fountain with stock 454's/330HP. As of now they have 3 blade 23 pitch props. The guy I bought the boat off of got it on a trade as he owns a dealership. He didn't know much about the boat other than it read 61 on the GPS wide open. Not sure at what RPM but I can imagine with those props, over tolerance of 4800RPM Does anyone have any suggestions on which size to use and MPH gain? I was thinking 4 blade 25 Pitch? Secondly, any used prop exchange/trade places as I am going to repower next winter so trying to keep cost at a minimal this upcoming summer running the boat.
thank you.
Steve

I have a 1988 8.8m with twin 454 Magnums. They are 365 hp and Bravo 1 drives. I ma restoring the boat its original condition but really lack documentation. The main thrust has been removing the water stain and oxidation. I still have water stain on the front deck. I have replaced much of the electronics (GPS, VHF radio and stereo system). I am presently remove the fluorescent light and putting in LED lighting in the cabin. This is my first Fountain (go-fast boat) so learning to drive the boat has been a challenge. I had a broken bilge pump switch on my dash board. I took it was just a switch until I removed it and found it was a circuit breaker. The manufacturer went out of business (Potter_Brumfiled). I got the breaker from Livorsi but it was a tad too big. I finally found a cross-reference for breakers and found the exact one I needed made by Tyco.
It has been this types of repairs that have been a real bummer. But the few times I have ad the boat out, she runs good and handles the water well. I am on Lake Ontario.

Here is my old girl. Going to hate parting with it. It has been hands down my favorite boat and built like a tank. Not one single stress crack anywhere.
