Default Exhaust Manifold Temp Senor Change; 496HO | 35' Exec

Boat is at the repair shop and the port side manifold sensor has failed on the starboard engine. They tell me they will need to pull the risers to gain access to the sensor to the tune of $800 labor.

Boat: 2004 Fountain 35 Exec.

Anyone made this repair before, I know the area is tight, but don't want my pants pulled down.

Did it break off and have to be drilled out?

No, it is still in there. Just needs replaced. They tell me the risers will need to be removed.

I don't know why. I took mine out just to check them. crack the paint around the threads with a razor blade and soak the threads with PB Blaster and put a wrench on it. be careful not to break it. mine came right out.

Thanks for the info. Called the guy back and asked him to take a 2nd look at the job. He assured me there was no way to replace them without removing all the components and risers. I will pay for the diagnostic and move the boat out this week.
