Triples in 42?
Has anyone owned a triple 42? I wonder if the extra weight caused the nose to carry high and tail to sit too low in the water. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't but know a guy well who has a 97ish. Sits a little low in the rear at the dock. Bow is normal. Under way 35-95mph seems to ride very level. I'll try to find pic. It's a cool custom.

Re: Triples in 42?
I had a 1997 42 with triple 750 Teague motors and Bravo drives. The boat did sit a little low (rubrail at the water line). It actually ran faster with a full load of fuel because it kept the bow down slightly. The boat had no problem with trimming up the bow! Friend had same boat with twin 1000's and 6 drives (slightly lighter) and his boat ran flat all the time, no bow rise because of the drives. Both boats ran about the same speed but mine would fly a lot more over the waves.

I have a 1994 42 with tripple HP500's and it sit right about 5 inches abelow the rub rail in the back, but judging by the platforum in the water you wouldn't want it any lower or higher. I think it looks very sleek sitting in the water but at slow speeds it looks like it is plowing instead of plaining. fyi!

Re: Triples in 42?
I like my 42 with twins, but i rode in a 97 with trip. 525Sc's in 3-5's Saturday for 40 miles and it rocked...seemed to have incredible throttle response and once we hit 70 it rode on top of the waves and speared through the ones we hit with ease....yes it sits lower than mine by alot but mine isn't stepped also....water was at the rubrail with full tanks including the 70gals in the rear saddle tanks. My pick would be a trip. with a non step bottom like the one in the classifieds.
