Both ride same and are as fast as each other.
$1500 a month or $3000 a month...some have it and others have less of it.
You need to be happy with your pick...Its your money.
..are '05 42' EX's with 525's going for $225?

Since the EX is a "retro" boat they should consider making the platform optional and put the beak on with velcro...
...shaken not stirred please...

I know Shogren wants $360 for an '04 42' Lightning with 525's. That's apples to apples...as a Tg is around the same price and size...

BTW, not sure what it is, but the boat on the bottom pic just looks cool and stands out. Not like your everyday Cigs which just blend in with all the other boat brands.
It looks so cool I just had the back end of my S-500 lowered 1 foot

NO slam to Fountain as I really do like them but this beak and platform and LOA thing is for the birds. The industry needs to adopt measurement standards....list the boat length as actual length. I know a guy who had a 26' boat and bought a 29'er and found out the 26' boat he had was a bit bigger. I dislike smoke and mirrors.

That having been said I think the '05 42' EX with 525's for around 200-225k is a good deal and if that's what I wanted it's a totally great deal.

The '04 Lightning 42'er with 525's at 360K that the Detroit/Chicago Fountain dealer has...is priced about the same as a Cig...I would take the Cig...I think the '04 Lightning would have to go for $275-290k before I became interested.

I had been out 10-12 times last summer in a Fountain 42'er and it is a great boat. I also have been out in a Cigarette TG and must say I liked the style and form better and got more looks....got to face those there facts of life. Call 'em like ya see 'em.

You think about this stuff way too much.
Is the 39 TG worth the extra 225K? It is to some, thats why they sell them for that price.
If I had the coin for something like that I might treat myself to one also.

Oh, one of them.
I'm a Beemer guy myself. On our 3rd. now. Can't beat the quality of either make.

For someone who who thinks Fountains are for the birds, you sure spend alot of time here. Must be you deep inner soul trying to overcome your 'smoky' thinking. You KNOW you want one, just go fer it.

You know I have to give Reggie a hard time don't ya?

I think the beaks are a Freudian slip thing with Reggie...likes to go showing his wanger off on all his boats...

....it does sooner or later boil down to Fountain...Cigarette...or whatever....and yea for the money Fountain makes a good showing....

I remeber back in the late 80's when Fountains really
started showing up on the water. I was just a 25 ft guy
back then, but I remeber seeing my first ICBM 12 meter
on the Hudson River in N.Y. harbor and thinkin that it
was the coolest and best lookin boat I had ever seen!!
I LIKE THE BEAK. I think it makes the boat distinct and
adds a very sharp line to the boat. I know its a big joke to
all you Cig fans, but all I can say is, A hellava lot of guys
own Fountains, so somebody must like it!!

Brings back the time I idled out of North Point Marina here in IL. when I had a 32 Baja and a 42 called "Wake Up" with 800's and 6's blasted past us like an F15...me and my buddy's jaw dropped.
We caught up with him at the Gas Dock a few miles south and he let us check out the cabin and drivers seat...I was hooked since.
