Stereo Remote Question
The remote in this picture....
Is it hardwired to the stereo?
Has anybody added one the their transom? If so how hard is the job and where did you purchase remote.

Re: Stereo Remote Question
yes hardwired
lots of places...kenwood dealer should be able to get one for you
or an online stereo place under marine if they have kenwood
consumer's marine electronics in Jersey has 'em also
$60-70 though I picked up the previous gen (looks slightly different...same shape and functions) at West marine on closeout for $35
it's going in the rear of my formula
power (illumination), ground and the signal lead, though it's unclear to me if you have to have a "Y" of sorts at the head unit to run two...or if you can just tap the second one onto the first one's signal wire.

Re: Stereo Remote Question
I put my Clarion remote on my transom very easy. Just make sure you are clear in the back side before you drill. I had to drill a 2 1/8" hole for the remote. I could not get to the back of the remote to use the remote mounting bracket, so mounted it to the transom with 5200 for now. I am having a nice mounting plate fabricated out of stainless, which is 1/4" larger than the remote. I will mount the remote to it and then mount the plate to the transom.

Re: Stereo Remote Question
I have 2 on my Fountain and you have to have a Kenwood marine stereo head that has the pigtail to plug the hard wire in. A y is not avalible for 2, you just splice the 2 hard wires together. I also installed the Kenwood 10 disc cd changer that also plugs into the receiver with 1 wire.

Re: Stereo Remote Question
my remote has a eye that has to be looking at the sterio, it came with a short lead and i was told that I had to leave it alone. I took the head apart and put a 20foot wire on it . Works fine.

Re: Stereo Remote Question
Summer Heat,
I have a brand new Kenwood wired remote sitting in my closet. Purchased about 2 years ago for my dads boat but his stereo wouldn't support the wired remote. If your interested let me know.
