Default Chipped lower skeg this past weekend

Went out Saturday. Tide was low leaving the docks. I was idleing out and clunk...WTF....Drives were up. Not in trailer mode but around 8 on the trim indicator.
Hoping I dont have to pull the drive.
Ideas????

Can I get away with a tig weld with lowers on the boat.
Anyone recomend someone loaclly in FT MYers.

Thanks
Dennis

Dennis:

We take the lowers off for welding repairs. Try Burris Propeller or Coastal Prop in the Cape.

I've always had good luck with Burris.

Hello Dennis. These pics will help you realize you did not have such a bad day after all !! LOL This is what hitting a rock on Georgian Bay will do to your drives. That was on my previous Predator.

Dennis,

It seems to me that rather than pulling off the lower unit you could just take the drive off and work with it that way only takes 20 minutes and you wont lose all of your gear lube. If you don't find someone local, we could repair it but you would then need to have someone else repaint it
