Bob note: Ah, the weather looks much better ! With an east / south east wind ( onshore ) the water will be fine within a few miles of the coast.

Congrats on the new ride. Dad said you pulled the trigger. They are nice. May catch up with you on the beach in February when we are down there.

I have sent the following message by e mail to all registered participants:

We have gone out on a limb and booked a Jet Ranger helicopter to have Jay shoot the run on Saturday. We have sold one seat to help offset the cost and there is one more window seat available at $ 300 if anyone is interested. We still need to raise some money tho to cover the rest of the cost. If you can contribute $ 50 to $ 100 towards the cost would be appreciated. Please let me know. We can accept payment at the lunch stop or if you prefer PayPal just go to the website www.ftmyersoffshore.com and pay using the "Donation" button on the home screen. Contributors will receive from Jay a 16" X 24" print with a retail value of $ 90.00.

Important: I am going to keep the yellow flag up on my Nor Tech until we get to Bonita Beach so the boats can stay together and give Jay a chance to get your picture. PLEASE DO NOT PASS THE PACE BOAT until we get to the Bonita Beach water tower when I will drop the flag and everyone can set their own pace to Marco. We will only run 55 PMH until we get to Bonita Beach then you can run any safe speed you like.

Thank you,

Bob

Cool

A reminder for those of you in vessels with T-Tops...
Lori demonstrates a favorite pose for dealing with those pesky shadows.

Important final details for Saturday's run to Marco Island

Routing / Safety: When we leave the bridge I am planning on swinging over towards Ft Myers Beach on our way south, however we need to stay a mile or so off the beach to avoid boat and jet ski traffic in the FMB area. Be sure to give others on the water a wide berth. From there we will head to Bonita Beach with the flag still up. Once we reach Bonita Beach and the flag drops set your own comfortable, safe pace to Marco Island. Please wear your life jackets. We look dumb in Jays pictures without them and besides it's the right thing to do for the safety of all concerned. Also do not crowd your fellow FMO's as there is lots of room on the Gulf to spread out. Have your crew on the lookout for surrounding hazards.

Docking at the Esplande Marina: With a record number of boats attending and several for their first time I thought I would share some instructions from the dock master. If you look at the attached plan you will see three separate entrances to where we will be docking in the E Dock areas along the wall. The most room is at the south end between Piers C & D. Also do not leave a lot of room between boats as we are going to have to pack them in. Only go into a slip if directed to do so by the dock master. Please have your fenders and lines ready on arrival as there is a good chance you may be rafted off another boat.

Bob

We only have 6 contributors out of 38 participants so far for the helicopter. We are not even close yet to covering the cost. Jay is offering to provide contributors with a high quality pic 16" X 24" with a retail value of $ 90.00.
