Info / Roll Call for FMO Holiday season Fun Run to Marco Island - Sat. Dec. 28, 2013
Attending Captains should read this information carefully to avoid any confusion.
Our 8th annual Holiday season Fun Run will again be to Marco Island, however this year will be held on Sat. Dec. 28th, 2013. As usual we will start from the south side of the Sanibel Bridge at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be at C.J’s on the Bay in the Esplanade complex, Marco Island. We will monitor the weather closely and if any changes are necessary we will get the information out ASAP. Just one more important reason to register with us if you are planning on coming. If the weather is not suitable on Dec. 28th, our rain date is Jan 1st, New Years Day.
If you are able to join us, post up here on our event thread or let me know by phone: 239-776-0481, or e mail: [email protected] by 3 PM on Thursday Dec. 26th. Both the dockmaster and the restaurant must know in advance to prepare for our arrival.
The run is free and open to all paid up FMO members with offshore boats capable of a safe 50 MPH min. cruising speed.

Membership renewal: If you have not yet renewed your membership for 2014, now would be a good time to do so as the end of the year is approaching fast. Please go to our website at www.ftmyersoffshore.com and complete the online form or download and mail it in or present at the “membership desk” we will have set up at C.J’s. Please note that to participate in FMO events you must be a club member and your boat must be insured. If your insurance has recently renewed, please provide your current info to FMO board member Eric Belisle [email protected] who keeps track of members insurance information.
Route: From the Sanibel Bridge we will start behind the Nor Tech Team PREDATOR pace boat on a coastal coarse that will take us past Bonita Beach, Naples and on down to Big Marco Pass and into the Marco River. A half mile into the Marco River, turn right into the first canal (before Snook Inn) making our way in the marked channel to C.J.s on the Bay at the Esplanade Marina.
Dockage: The public dockage at The Esplanade is located along the seawall. The dock master will do his best to keep as much dockage open for us as possible but he cannot turn the public away. Some rafting will likely be required so please have lines and fenders ready on arrival. The slips are privately owned, so unless directed into a slip by the dock master, they should be avoided. Don't be afraid to show your appreciation to the dock master and slip him a few dollars. They are bringing extra staff just for our benefit.
Fuel / Distance: The distance from the Sanibel Bridge to Marco Island is about 45 miles each way. All boats are urged to leave with full fuel, particularly if you use high octane fuel that is hard to get. 90 octane ethonol free fuel is available at club sponsor Pelican Pier Marina in the Marco River, just beyond the Snook Inn on the right side.
Pictures: Club photographer Jay Nichols (OSO Jayboat) will be aboard Team PREDATOR capturing as many running pictures of your boats as possible. Please be sure to come alongside us for your picture. No need to get too close with Jay’s lense capabilities. Later, Jay will post as many pictures of your boats on OSO as he can and I will send out links as to where they can be found including Jay’s Flickr page. If the seas are rough the backup plan is for Jay to be on the Naples pier as he still needs to be careful of his back.
Food: C.J’s will be serving us with a buffet style lunch and each participant will be responsible to C.J’s for their meal / drinks. The all inclusive cost is $ 25.00 which includes the lunch buffet, water / soft drink, tax & gratuity. Kids are half price. Wrist bands or tickets will be given out as you pay for lunch, prior to going though the food line.
50 / 50 draw: At lunch we will be selling 50 / 50 raffle tickets. Draw proceeds will go into the FMO student scholarship fund. Please support your Club, and the good work we are trying to do.
FMO clothing line: We will have available for purchase FMO hats, visors, ladies v & scoop neck T’s, ladies tank tops, mens polo shirts as well as T’s in both long and short sleeve in a cool micro fibre material. Any profit generated by the sale of club clothing goes towards FMO’s student scholarship fund.
Communication: Inter boat communication to be on VHF channel 72. My cell is 239-776-0481. Anyone dropping out after the start should let me know so we do not spend time waiting or looking for you. Leave a voice mail if no answer.

We will be replacing the blown transmission on the 27th and plan to be there! Looking forward to it, finally lol. As of right now, there will be 5 of us.
