I don't know what kind of expert you think YOU are RATMAN!! I think your name really says it all!!!!!
I have personally seen Cignificant Other's mistress and ridden in it several times. It is a beautiful boat and rides like a dream. It cuts through rough water like butter. Everyone that saw and heard the boat at the OSS Race in Biloxi had nothing but compliments!! As a matter of fact, the boat's looks and performance were impressive enough to start every race that day, including the Supercats!!
Your comments are way off and your attitude sucks!! Just because this particular boat didn't meet YOUR standards....doesn't mean you have to go and trash it to everyone who reads the forum.
I believe you just bought your first Cigarette, didn't you? And didn't you buy it on EBAY??? I guess this makes you a professional critic, huh?? You really oughta concentrate on getting your gps to read....what was it??? 100mph????......rather than posting false comments about another member's boat.

Ratman....thanks for all the compliments! :rolleyes: I was not aware that you were a professional Marine Surveyor with SAMS Certification. Your incompetence is actually quite humorous and was exaggerated by your complete unprofessional mannerism that day. Noting your arrogance and know-it-all attitude, yet obvious lack of experience with larger boats, the broker proceeded to show you the boat anyway.

After your brief inspection of the vessel, your immediate reaction to the hand laid woving roving pattern, was that the boat had been in a major accident. I never realized the other gentleman with you was a surveyor, as he showed no interest and offered no comments about the boat. Since this boat’s finish consists of the original factory black paint scheme, instead of numerous repaints, fillings/fairings, and re-gel coats, the natural fiberglass pattern is visible in some areas of the boat. In reality, if you appreciate older performance boats, this is a distinguishing trait common among builders of that era. At that time, I took the opportunity to attempt to educate you on the principles used in constructing older Cigarettes. Interestingly, your post makes note of that very conversation regarding texture.

Furthermore, I never even had the opportunity to speak to you regarding the boat, prior to your arrival. As you stated, at that time, the boat was with a broker. I apologize if you felt he misrepresented the boat. For the record, I personally informed you the boat had ported steel heads, not Brodix! You were also informed of the # 3 SSM by the broker....it's what you wanted. Though I must admit, I am still searching for all the stress cracks on the boat. This Cigarette is a battleship…not some eggshell like you insinuate.

This is the third Cigarette I have owned and the very best balanced boat I’ve driven. I have quite a bit of experience with these boats, as I purchased my first Cigarette at 21 years old and have numerous friends that own Cigarettes. Isn’t this your first one? As I recall, you didn't even know which drives were on your 1979 boat. What's the difference between a # 3 and # 3A SSM Drives you asked recently? What an expert Cigarette Surveyor you have become during your brief ownership! :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

In conclusion, this Cigarette was professionally surveyed on December 8, 2004 by an accredited Marine Surveyor. The thorough ten (10) page report that followed was from a registered unbiased specialist, not a disgruntled unprofessional shopper. The boat passed with flying colors and there were no recommendations regarding any mechanical or structural deficiencies. The current market value is stated at $80,000.00. This survey is available for review by any perspective buyers.

Kindly refrain from offering your inexperienced, unprofessional opinion of Cignificant Other and good luck with your recent purchase.

njgr8ful Love the checkered graphics. We were out on Lake Michigan the first time I saw the boat coming out of the St Joe inlet. We took Kaama out for the day and it caught my eye and when we got closer it really sounded healthy. Saw it again in South Haven. Very Nice. Dr Dave that used to be on OSO built and maintained the motors on the boat. Hope you enjoy her. If you need any info let me know and I can get in touch with him.

ratman From the last few posts it sounds like you don't have the experience to make the kind of judgment you have made against CignifigantOthers boat and should be embarrassed. That is what a survey is for, to get a professional inspection. I agree with Stormrider and you should delete your post and the others should follow.

I will be in New Orleans in 4 weeks for a poker run and if anyone is interested in the boat and wants me to look at it first hand I'll be glad to. The pictures posted in the Classifieds of the boat really look nice.

I agree on the deleting those posts. Personal opinions can be very dangerous to post in public forum. One man's treasure is another mans ..... There have been numerous discussions about these things and handling them privately through PMs. emails, or phone conversations (right L.S Jr. ;) :D :D ). I think this would apply here also.
