New $$ heights for fuel!

Went out Saturday and had a great day...EXCEPT, filled up at HarborTown... $3.09 gallon for 89 octane!   . News reports this weekend said that prices are still on the way up. Street price around here is $2.40-2.50 for 89 BTW.

Might be time for a gas caddy and midnight trips down to the boat :( . That had to be the most expensive fill up of my life without a doubt.

NO chit! Splashed for the first time yesterday. I'm gonna savor the $1.69 fuel I have in the tank because it's gonna hurt to replace it!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what $2.50/gallon in today's dollars represents in 1990 or 1975 dollars? I'd interested to see how much of the increase over the years is due to inflation, and how much is actually a real price increase.

Jay,
I take (5-12) 6 gallon cans down to our dock all the time! It's only way to fuel your boat on a lift.

If today's price of gas was based on inflation, we would all be talking about what a great deal we are getting!!!

I heard on the news that even w/ the high prices we are seeing today compared to 1970's were still paying less...

The problem is that I am on a rack at a marina. Though I'm on the ground level most the time, I don't believe they allow it. They have been especially wary about fuel since some idiot burned up his boat in Ft. Lauderdale working on the fuel system.

So if I do it, I'd have to be sneaking in late night, and they would probably see my access codes coming in after hours. Even though it would save a bunch of cash, I'm not sure whether the hassle is worth it.

We'll see how I feel though after getting bent over for few more fill ups though!
