A nice yacht hit San Clemente Island this morning, at least those who saw it at boatyard had enough dignity not to post the pic...

Ironic after this thread right here just a few days ago..

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...oat-races.html

Referencing this pic of a Nortech at a Gas station seen without straps...

Maybe NorTech should put big warning stickers on the back of their boats to remind the owners to strap them down PROPERLY!

This quote from page 1 of that thread should also be re-examined??

I only use bow straps on my 31 Chris Cat. These Cat hulls sit very solidly on these trailers.

I cant belive that anyone wouldnt tie down there boat in front and back while towing ? How much longer can it take to tie it down vs. $ 40-60 thousand of damage .. I even double tie it in the front and I only go 5 miles to drop in. remember it only takes once....

Thats sucks big time. I not only have the transom strapped down with 2 big heavy duty winch straps, the bow is also strapped down with the same type of winch strap, in additon to a new 10,000 winch strap on the new fulton winch, and lastly for added measure, a heavy duty safety chain with snap hook from the bow eye to the winch stand with the other end of the chain thru bolted to the winch stand. She aint moving off that trailer with all that in place. Better to be safe than sorry. Takes a while to undo for launching but worth the efforts.
