Default bravo 3, how much power??

ijust bought a mariah z302. it's a step up from my old baja hammer. it's my first inboard. my question is i'm thinking abouting puting a self contained procharger on the 1999 502mpi that pushed her. my question is will the bravo three be able to take the extra horsepower? it has dual 26 pitch props on it now. thanks in advance!

I run 640 horse/660 torque with 15 year old bravo ones. It all depends on how you drive the boat.

Since the drive already has a low gear ratio and if you go to a 30" prop, I think that's the biggest they come in for Bravo III's, I would think you'll be OK. As stinger says, it also depends on how you drive it. I would watch how much power you connect to it immediately when getting on plane, you need to keep in mind, those two props are going to grab a lot of water and put a lot of force on the shaft, putting to much power to that shaft I would think is going to be the week point. But, avoiding the direct punch of the throttle, I think it would be OK. Just keep in mind, it's a heavy boat and your not going to get corvette performance..... your going to have to wait for the boat to catch up to the power available and work your way up to top end... Good luck!

i thought i read somwhere that a bravo three is only good for 55-60mph. the motor is all stock. now i can run about 55mph. what do you think id get after putting on a 5psi procharger? will a stock 502 be able to safely handle the extra hp? thanks..
