Does anyone use a fuel flow meter?

With gas prices it would be nice to know what rpm and trim settings would give the best GPH. Are they worth the money?

Re: Does anyone use a fuel flow meter?

I bought one, but its only good for 300hp.
Now that I'm running 560hp, I wouldn't want it to restrict fuel flow, so its coming out. My dyno sheet gives me an idea of what I'll be burning, but it only shows from 4000rpm and up.
But I agree, its nice not only to know how much your burning, but to maximize cruising range.

hey Shah Mat,

I have one on my 42 Sonic and it is well worth the money. I use for getting the total fuel consumption on a trip then on the way back put only what I used going out. Once you get the averages right you can run less gas in the boat thereby running the boat lighter on short trips rather than topping off everytime out.....I have 502's in my rig.....

They work well on my Gun, it's amazing how a few hundred rpms can mean the difference between 20 GPH per side and 30GPH when cruising.
I use mine to determine cruise speed alot ,you don't even want to look at it when your into boost!

I'm installing a B&G Network Engine device. It works using data from the ECU and displays fuel consumption, coolant temp, voltage and more. Guage connects to ecu with single shielded wire and cost less than Floscan.

we use the faria digital flowmeter in many boats they work awesome and are reasonable cost they worked on a pair of 750,s no problem but i,m sure they were at there max flow.....it is a drop in 2 inch gauge

There are some good ones out there that won't cause flow problems. I know someone with 575's who has meters and has never had any issues.
