Hey Man! I bet that is a work of art compared to mine! I'll know later today when we pull it off. We tried to find y'all at Crazy Charlies later that night, but you had already left. We did run into Tomtbone and the group from Texas we had been running with earlier in the day.

Thanks for the help with the boat Friday night! I know we didn't get it fixed, but it is the thought that counts.

Anytime, If you need any parts let me know I might be able to save you some money.
I just wish I could get past the first card stop.
This makes the second trip with problems. last year I lost a coil on my other boat and now this. Even if would have had a spare drive, by the time I would have got back and changed it out it would have been 4:00

What sucks is that I was only doing 3500 rpm's running flat in open water.
I don't even have a good story. l

The intial drive damage does not happen at the point of failure but minutes or even hours before the final curtain call.

Check your oil regularly,
No power starts out of the hole, it is not a drag racer.
Do not FLY the boat, it does not have wings.
Yearly inspections help but if not yearly every other year.

Mr. Gadgets can rebuild that drive! He can fix anything in his nice new shiney shop!!

I've blown 3 drives in my boating career... one flying the boat off huge waves WAY offshore and VERY alone (Coasties came and got me)... another going 40 mph in flat water WAY up river (got a tow to a 2 bit ramp and a ride to my trailer).... and the last one trying to get on plane at LOTO with 8 people on my boat... Gordo helped me out with that one!.... 3 different scenarios all with the same results.... me pushing another boat with a tow rope!!

I guess that's why I feel ok about mine -- we were at 7000 rpms and had been most of the day. I lost my digital in New Orleans that night (actually the next morning about 7:00am) or else I would have pics of the "permagrin". We will try again for the Royal Purple Run. I promise not to break if you promise.

I may call you about the parts. Thanks again.
