Default bravo x

somone tell me what the difference is from a bravo 1 to a bravo 1x. what year did the bravo x come out and is this years x beeter. thanks.

"X" is what was the "XZ": upper with a standard Bravo lower with DWP.

BAM site has an excellent breakdown of the differences.

Mercury's New X-Drive
Improvements and redesigns include:

Top cover aluminum bearing chimney is machined shorter for
the new narrower bearing race.
New Near-Net-Forged Upper gears with 18 tooth splines.
Both gears will have thicker web floors.
New thrust bearings and races for driven gears.
New thrust bearings between garter spring and gear.
New clutch cone stamped "H"
New stub yoke (18 spline) with new thick U-Joint Assembly.
New retainer nut and o-ring & seal redesign.
New thrust washer arrangement for larger L18 Shaft
New threaded heavy duty lower bearing chimney
Hardened DriveShaft Splines
New Splined Coupler
With or without low water pick-ups.

Dont ask me what any of that means, I just pulled it off a web site I had seen.......... I think the X drive was made for use with diesel motors and is a little beefier than the regular Bravo 1.

I Just What To Know Because I Just Bought A Boat With A Bravo X And Its A 2002. I Didnt Think The X Was Around Then.

yes it was the X was packaged with the 496 HO right from the get.
