Default Weight fluctations in Cigarette model years?

After researching the differences in model years for Cafe's and Gun's I noticed the weight for different model years fluctuates up and down? I could understand getting progressively heavier or lighter over the years but why the back and forth? Here where my findings:

Cafe Racer Top Gun

1988 9,000 9,800
1989 9,000 11,000
1990 9,000 9,800
1991 9,500 10,000
1992 10,500 11,000
1993 10,500 10,500
1994 10,500 11,000
1995 9,600 11,000
1996 9,600 11,000
1997 9,600 11,000
1998 9,600 11,000
1999 9,400 9,900

I realize there were years were carbon fiber and other options were available but I couldn't find this info? I gathered this data from NADA.

Was there perhaps a difference in resin type, coring, or something?

Thanks,
Mike

Since those are all rounded numbers I wouldn't put much faith in them. I'm not a Cigarette historian but recently I've been reading everthing I can find since I've been shopping for a used T.G..
There are a number of topics on weight and carbon fiberand/or Kevlar or convential layups and associated weights. Also remember there are different cabin configurations.

This could cost me but I'd bet a cold beer of choice that there are less than 20 Cigarette owners on this board that have a certified weight scale ticket with there boats weight shown.

There are guys here that have far more knowledge than I and are extremely helpful. May want to repost in Cigarette forum.

Those numbers a pretty optimistic in most cases. True weight will be quite a bit more.

LMAO!!!! So true, so very, very true. I don't any of us want to knwothe true weights. instead of adding trinkets, we'd all be out there finding stuff to tear out to lighten them up. I wonder how many mnufacturers have really done consistent and random weight tests to stay on top of ballpark true dry, configured weights.

My last boat was a 2002 288 sunsation and it's advertised weight was 4500. I take it to the scale, and after subtracting a full bag of gas, etc. it came out to be roughly 500 lbs heaveir than listed. The 32 supposedly is 6500, but I bet it's more like 7000. Both the 288 & 32 have been listed at those weights for almost 15 years in spite of all the changes/updates made. It would be interesting to see more reports on here of folks taking their boats in and getting actual weight numbers for all to see.

Well I'll be able to tell you how much my '02 TG weighs some time soon.
Our marina just ordered a new Wiggins Bull that will tell the operator how much weight he is lifting. I'll chime in when I find out.

That's cool, they have the same trucks at my marina, but they don't indicate weight.
