ATTENTION FLORIDA BOATERS
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that every boater in Florida support these bills!
WHAT YOU CAN DO.
Write and call the Governor and ask him to sign HB-759, HB-989, and HB-955
Please use this subject line:
Please SIGN HB-759, HB-989, and HB-955
Make sure to include your name and mailing address
HB 759
Requires DEP and the Feds to create a one-stop -- expedited permitting system for permitting construction in and around wetlands and navigable waters. The SMC will hate anything that allows us to actually build something like a marina or condos near the water.
HB 989
Relating to Public Marinas/Boat Ramps/DEP
Public Marinas/Boat Ramps/DEP; directs DEP to adopt rules to authorize local governments to construct & maintain all facilities, including public marinas & boat ramps; exempts certain facilities from development-of-regional-impact review; provides for regulatory criteria & for use of submerged lands; revises permit exemption requirements for floating vessel platforms or floating boat lifts
HB-955
The bill creates a streamlined permitting system for public boat ramps and marinas. In addition, it says that any boat ramp/marina built under this expedited permitted system cannot be sold to a private entity....it's the other part of the SB 1316 issue in that it should reduce the bureaucracy that has slowed down permitting boat ramps and marinas.
