Default Anodize or powder coat, which is better?

Anodize powder coat
I bought a Kiefhaefer throttle control off Ebay that is a little weathered. I want to recoat it. Should I anodize it black or powder coat it satin black. Which one will hold up thru the years.

Here is a picture of it.

Like Too Old Said, anodizing doesn't hold up well in teh sun and you would also have to polich the whole thing first to get to look real good, the only real upside to anodizing is that if you scratch it, it won't spread like powdercoating can.

if your really concerned about protecting it, you should hard-coat anodize it then powder coat it. that would give you the best protection.

What is best for touching up powder coat. I just had my swim platform powdercoated and some *#CK@SS scrapped the hell out of mine all the way down to the bare aluminum.

I know I can't have it touched up with powedercoat, but what about epoxy?

Touch up can be a little complicated - if the bare aluminum has been exposed to salt it must be cleaned with fresh water and a salt remover, salt away or chlorrid. Bare aluminum should be primed using a polyamide epoxy. Apply the epoxy in several coats to fill the scratch. Sand epoxy and adjacent surfaces using 320/ 400 grit to promote adhesion. Apply finish paint, aliphatic polyurethane. You can have this matched in products such as DuPont Imron or equivelent. The strong solvent in this paint will adhere nicely to the polyester powder coat.

Note - If you have access to alodine 1200 apply this to bare aluminum before the epoxy. The other option is the old tried and true, put a budwiser lable over the damaged area

The handles are Stainless Steel, I had a prop shop polish my handles. You could have the aluminum plates powder coated, painted or polished if you clear coat them..
