Consistent 10-20's with chains of 4-5 30 footers in a row thrown in on Lake Erie (National Weather Service said 7-10's) in a Formula 311. Nothing like 1300 H.P. getting pushed backwards like a cork!

Yes, I was filling my drawers and wondering if I would make it home. Felt the distinct presence of my grandfather who was a commercial fisherman on Western Lake Erie (he passed away when I was 4).

I never get seasick, but I had a hard time eating dinner later that night ... everytime I would lean forward to take a bite, the whole resturaunt would tilt violently.

Had to go through the boat and retighten every screw and bolt.

Read this somewhere a couple days later ...

"When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you" Isaiah 43:2

I was in true 8'-10' seas coming back from Islamorada this winterin my Tiger. It started out as 3-5's then 4-6' then once we started seeing Miami the waves and wind lined up and they got big in a hurry. I was able to maintain about 50-55 mph w/o flying the boat or stuffing it due to the spread of the waves and going with them as oppossed to against them. Its not the kind of boating I enjoy. All my aspirations of ever wanting to race offshore left my mind on that day.

Red face Re: What's the worst conditions you have been out in?

We were going out the Ocean City inlet a few years ago in a 38 Scarab. As we came off one wave the bow was touching the next. As we looked over the bow one last time we seen a tuna tower, when we pulled off and sunk into the bottom of the wave... it was a Forty Post with a tuna tower on it. Its amazing to see the props turn on one of those while it's moving. We guess that the waves were around 15-20'. Needless to say, we turned around and came back in!!!!

Solid 8-10's on Lake Michigan. The boat was a 31' Tiara 3100 Open. The boat handled it with no problem, but I was not liking the situation. The worst part was trying to turn around and having a 10 footer with the top three feet a frothy white cap catch you broadside!! It was a wild ride even at 15 - 20 MPH!!

I was in real 6-8ft in my 13 whaler. May not have been the bigest I was ever in, but the scariest... boy was I a dumb 15 yr old. Had to follow a tug back into the inlet.
The water just didn't seem so bad heading w/ the waves, but once I turned around.

A Tiger can do 55 mph in 8-10' seas?...where do I get one?
