Call Bob Wilkens at Talon, he'll know if there's one out there. That's how I found one which wasn't publically listed for sale.

Re: Looking for a 22 talon with 300 or 300X O/B
Robert is exceptionly helpful. Unfortinately Talon has sold ALL of their cat molds in the last year or two. Not that he won't help you. It's his nature. I do encourage you to call him as he'll tell you all the plusses and minuses of his designs. He may be able to point you in the direction of the new owner of the molds too.

Re: Looking for a 22 talon with 300 or 300X O/B
The 18 left awhile back. The 22 molds were recently sold off to Canada and the 25 is obviuosly with Hustler but don't count Gary Armington out of the high performance cat game yet. There is a Talon project currently underway although it's much larger than a 22'.

Re: Looking for a 22 talon with 300 or 300X O/B
The 22' Molds are in Canada, they are owned by Ted Greguc of F1 and Mod-vp racing fame. The boats are being built by John Speath, I am sure that most of you guys have no idea who he is, but rest assured the quality of the boat will be superior. John is an organic chemist by education, has been building boats for over 30 years and has built over 500 hi-performance boats.
The original Talons were not vacuum bagged, and had coremat in them which is very heavy. The new are AME 5000, vacuum bagged and have ATC foam core where the old have coremat. The new will be stronger and lighter than the originals...... not unlike how the hustlers are faster than the originals. Teds number is 905-939-0963 and Johns number is 705-484-0407 aka HydroStream boats Canada......... no relation to the US or Canadian edition. RT |
Re: Looking for a 22 talon with 300 or 300X O/B
It sounds like the molds went to a good home. I can assure anyone reading this that th 22 Talon is by far the most driver friendly, well handling design of any small cat. Maybe shedding a few pounds will get it up to the 21 Skater speed range. I had a 98 with 300 and it ran just above 90 with a 14.5 X 27 Spinelli but it did it with no porpoising, no leaning out of the hole and got on plane instantly. It also leans inward during all turns unlike the Skater. Hope to see the new builders do well.

Re: Looking for a 22 talon with 300 or 300X O/B
I've been doing my homework and reading all of the new news on the new Talon mold buyer who wants to sell his Eliminator to start his new company BUT I'm wanting to get something on my budget, so a new Talon would be out of the question. Must sell my boat first. Then start finding a 22 (1990 to 1995+). Thanks for all of the help. I'll be making some phone calls in the morning. Again thinks guys for the help and info.

Don't suppose you'd be interested in a splash of the 26....
