Destin Fl. for the 4th! Who's going to be there?
Well, after a couple of years of running around Lake Pontchatrain (New Orleans), we've decided to go east! Headed to Destin for a long, long 4th of July weekend (starting Thursday) with the Coyote. Was wondering who else would be in the area that weekend? Any one know a good marina to stay over night with facilities?

Leesideinn.com and Marina Motel on Okaloosa Island have slips available nightly @ 1.50 per ft.. There is still a lot of storm damage to the docks but they are usable. I was at the Leeside last weekend. Not the nicest room by far, but fairly clean and convenient. Marler Park boat ramp is closed. Screwed our plans up. Wound up launching at Brooks Bridge Bait and Tackle. Brooks Bridge Marina is up and running but also storm damaged.

Thanks for the heads-up on Leesinn, we're staying on the boat so no big deal on the rooms. We're actually putting in at Gulfshores Thursday. Planning on nice easy run along the Intercoastal to Destin Friday morning, staying there Friday and Saturday. Finally, a few days where we don't have to be anywhere, any time!

Thats a beautiful run on the ICW. Leeside is a short run from Destin Harbor, and Crab Island where everyone hangs out. One thing about Leeside (Deckhands Marina) There is a beach bar right next to the marina with live bands. Not a problem really but they play late. If you have kids to put to sleep or like to go to bed early it could be annoying. If you want to party close to your boat its great! Have fun! Jim
