No, I think you are refering to the Tiki Bar in Solomon's Island. It has been there for years but the place has been sold so it's future is in doubt. They get about 4000 people there for opening day and there are usually a couple of hundred on a good weekend night. It is kind of an institution in Southern Maryland.

I believe you are referring to the tiki bar in solomons island on the patuxent river. You probably have heard about the opening and closing parties (april and november) that are thrown (wild). I have been apart of these for many years and some very good times. All should be aware that the bar has just been sold - previous owners have been operating since 1979 - and new owners will take over July 1st. I can almost guarantee that things there will not be the same, but that is the way life is (nothing stays the same).

Here's an email i got the other day about the tiki bar...

"It is official, the Tiki Bar is sold. The new owners, two local guys, Clark & Donovan will take over this Thursday. They have no plans in making any changes. It will remain open for the season with the same great recipes created by John & Kathy.

John & Kathy Taylor wanted all their friends to come celebrate their last evening as owners, this Wednesday night. So spread the word and come wish them all the best.

See you there Wednesday night, June 29th."

Should be a good party tonight, but i can't make it. I'll be hanging around there at various times this weekend though.

I don't know the exact mileage, but at 40mph it takes about an hour to an hour and a half to get there.

There is also a very famous "tiki bar" in islamorada/tavernier of the Florida Keys, it's about half way down between key largo and key west. Not a bad boat ride from Miami.

New Owners are local products that went away to
make their money. This is an investment for them.
Plan to keep things normal as far as bar goes.
But, may be changes to motel and other areas.

It is always a good time! And 4 or 5 OSO boats
to make friends with on any given weekend night.

Make the run, it is worth the price of admission. HA

Yep, Tiki Bar at Solomons is a great time!

Look up OSO member BobbyB. He has a sleeping bag that he keeps hanging above the bar, next to his mail.
