Re: News: How To Get Your Boat Confiscated

I boat about 50% Ohio waters, 50% michigan.
(And my dock is in MI waters.)

I had no idea that the skipper at the helm of a vessel underway could have an open alcoholic beverage in MI.
You sure can't in OH waters.

Any other opinions on that one?

Just curious. Seems hard to believe.

Fund - when did that go into affect in OH waters? About 6 yrs ago when I was still living up there it was OK for Captain to have open container, as long as not intoxicated. (or so I thought).
I know I was far from being the only one idling through downtown Toledo with a beer on the dashboard.

Regardless, the guy chucking bottles into the water is a fool.

I know this is a fairly old topic, but I just wandered across it.

The news article is a bit inaccurate (shocking!). The guy apparantly had a load on and was blasting past a group of people anchored up with kids swimming in the river. Another boat thought the guy struck one of these boats and called in a distress call. When the cops got there, the people told them what was going on and they approached Rispoli. He gave them the finger and threw the bottle at the cops before taking off. He thought he got away but 1) his pulled this BS not far from his own marina and 2) an off duty marine unit cop saw him go back into his marina after he shook the police boat. It's also not hard to find that kind of boat on the hudson. In addition, the same tow company that impounded his boat also took his car when he showed up drunk to get the boat back.

The boat had been for sale in NJ and this guy apparantly bought it not too long ago.
