I'm looking at a scarab thunder 31 foot with twin 454 mags in it. My question is how was wellcrafts quality during those years and what do you guys really think of wellcraft and there boat building methods.t are the ups and downs of the scarab??

Currently own a 1996 P-29 Scarab, and have owned a 31 in the vintage you are asking about. I would not hesitate to purchase the boat. It will take the rough water as good as any boat out there in it's class, and my 31 was an all around, very towable boat. You are not very specific on your questions, but I hope this helps with your decsion.

I also have a 28, it is a 1998 which is identical to the 96 P29 as far as design. The quality on this boat is very good. I have looked at many boats and I think the Scarab line is a very top quality built boat in that time frame. for towing, check the weight. I think the 29 is heavy for it's size but it rides nice.
