Just purchased a new fixed mount vhf and don't have a clue of what this digital selective calling is all about. 
I'm assumning this feature is to call specific individuals (friends etc etc) that also have this feature.
And then there is the MMSI feature that you need to get registered for. Is this done through the Coast Guard or through the radio manufacturer????
