1987 Baja 196 350cid whats it worth ???
 

My neighbor is selling a 1987 Baja SunSport 196 350 Mercruiser with a Alpha 1 outdrive. He wants $7500.00 for it. From what I can see the boat is in excellent condition.always garage kept, never left in the water. He is the original owner. NADA value is $5500.00 I want the boat and have driven it, its nice and fast.... But is it worth $7500.00 ?????? Thanks

If you know the seller and how well it was taken care of, I'd say somewhere between the 5,500-6,500. Remember, it is an 18 year old boat. See if he has any paperwork from repairs, etc. An 18 year old Alpha drive may be tired. I know this : those boats flew. We had an '85 200 Sport with the 350/260 hp. What a blast. Good luck with your decision.

The outdrive was gone thru last year. He also has a stainless ss prop and a thru hull exhaust upgrade. anything i should look for other that rot. the boat is very very nice, i have looked at alot of 90s not nearly as nice as this one ????? thanks for the assistance

Hi ! I have an 87 21' laser. It is a baja hull. Has 454. I capped the stringers.
check the stringers for rot. They did a poor job sealing them up. also the floor is not marine plywood. Had to be redone.
Also the side panel backing is cheap plywood. Being this boat you are contemplating was stored inside, it should be a safe deal. BBB
