The first skinny Cigarette was the 35'. All the other skinny Cigs are stretches or shrinks of stretches from the original boat. Until Mike Peters did the new 30' (small sales), all the boats we clones to some extent. Logically, the engine room stays the same, the cockpit similar (form follows function) then the rest ends up in the pointy end...... P.S. the long end of the stretch is the 47' Apache

The original Cary/Cigarette was 32'. It also was stretched and shrunk from 32' to 46'. It was over 9' wide, and had a built in speed limit of 81 mph. Any faster, it would chine walk, gunwale walk, and throw your ass out! The 35' had none of those problems. Amazingly, the 35' bottom was entirely Aronow's idea. (Most of the other stuff was somebody elses). The 35' has a straight chine for the last 10-12', then 'knuckled' up to the bow. Aronow had the plug in his shop for two or three years before he molded it. He was selling 36's hand over fist.

So was the first "skinny" the Awsome? then made into the 35 misstres and streched into the 38 flat deck??
Speaking of the 38 flatdeck since I own a '84 what is your input on that hull???

Right, the 'Awesome' was named when Richie Powers tested Bonomi's 90 mph 35. Then came the Mistress. Unfortunately, many of the '84 Cigarettes, Scarabs, etc., had structural problems because of the DCPD resins, which were new at that time. They were shiny as heck, but if the hull was laid up on Friday, and the stringers put in on Monday, there was no easy way to get a good secondary bond. Nobody knew it was a problem until it was too late. We sold a Wellcraft-built Cougar Cat 900 (30') to a former friend in the Bahamas. On the way from Miami, it just fell apart. Not all of the boats had a problem. If the boat was laminated in a continuous manner, no problem. Yours must be a good one....

I guess it must be a Monday boat becaues we take it out when eveybody is comming back in just to have fun :D . Never a bump or rattle!! everybody who gets a ride can not believe how solid the ride is or how well it takes big water with ease.

In chicago area I believe we now have 6 38' flatdecks. They might be slow on the big end but when the water builds there will allways be one at the front of the pack
