When did Wellcraft stop making

the Excalibur line of boats? I see some used 47's that are only two years old. From the look of thier web site, it doesn't look they they build them anymore.

4 Winns makes the Excalibur now. They got the molds since they are also owned by Genmar. Actually they do a pretty good job with them. More of a luxury boat now.

That answers a lot but there's no mention of the Excalibur on the Four Winns web site. Strange.

Looks like Genmar (owner of Wellcraft) sunk their teeth into 4-Winns too>?

The Wellcraft was a nice line of boats. Quality was an issue from time to time...but if you picked out a good boat you had a solid boat. I think the Nova St and Scarabs filled a niche'. They were much cheaper than Formula and Fountain too. You could get into a 38' Scarab a several years back at the end of the season for around 130K...while Formula's were going for 175k or so.

The Formula was of course in a higher league...but the Wellcraft for that price was a great poor man's offshore with a good racing heritage.

I thought "wellcraft" excalibers were 38's and 45's.
I saw a new 47 Excaliber (by Four Winns) at last years Annapolis boat show. Looked pretty good, but I seem to remember it had a pair of 496's. If I am remembering it right that seems Uuu.nn..der..powwww.er..ed.

Looks like a cruiser not an Excaliber...is this what we have been talking about? It's nice..T-496's will get her up to 49 mph...but it looks like a Sea Ray to me.

I have a customer that has one by Wellcraft that's a 26' with a HP 500 in it. Just a couple of years old.

I almost bought a new 26' Excaliber in 2001 prior to buying my Scarab. They were using the Excaliber line as the replacement to the smaller Scarabs at the time.

I have seen many of them that are definitely not in the "cruiser" category.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Here's a 45 that's in our boat club. I think it has 500's in it. It stays up with the pack on poker runs, and it's party central once we get to the last stop.

I saw the four winns 47 excalibur which was the wellcraft 45 and I think they did a great job with it. I also wondered about it not being on their website. Very nice boat, we said that when we get tired of trailing, that is one boat we would definitely look at.... very sweet lines!!!!
