Lost Scarab keys in desert north of Reno, need Scarab expert!

Hi gang, I had a great day on the boat first time in 2 years. I had it stored in a barn and never fooled with it until 4 weeks ago. It started right up and ran for 2 hours straight at 3300 rpm around pyramid lake, which is big, all is well.

Any 90's Scarab owners know about the gas cap key and the cabin door key, well I left mine at a gas station in the desert north of Reno on friday and they are gone.

Need help in getting new keys for these items, any ideas?
The gas cap key is a forked type with 2 cylinders that go into the cap and the cabin door key is a long key with a slide off brass lock barrel on it.
Is there any Wellcraft salvage yards or aftermarket hull parts places in the world?

You could probably get a locksmith to make you a set of keys for both items or have them unlock the gas cap so you can buy a new one and they could replace the cabin lock with a whole new lock and key combination.

Is the gas cap "key" really a sort of wrench that lets you loosen or tighten the cap? If so, West Marine, Boat US, etc will have them - I keep one on my keychain.

It sounds like the gas cap key you are describing is just what's called a deck key. they are universal and you can get one at any boating store or marina. The Scarab cabin key with the lock barrel that comes out with the key is a whole diffrent story. no locksmith that I know of will have anything like it. My old boss at Maveric Marine has one sitting in his tool box, key and barrel I don't know if he will want to sell it but you can give him a call. 818 989 4445, his name is Eric and they are open ruesday through saturday

Call Wellcraft with the hull ID number. If it was a car, they'd know the key number that it was built with and could send you a new set of keys.
